Blue Feet
Who can see what’s behind your smile,
is the tooth-fairy real, seen through children’s eyes?
And where were you when I was walking
on the sea?
Stumble ‘cross me in a forgotten dream,
did you see the forest, did you see the trees?
Did you know the rustling in the leaves
was me?
And I don’t get lonely in your skies,
I got old folks’ dreams, I hear babies cry,
And I don’t count the hours
until we meet.
I can see you and you can’t see me,
Believe what you like for I’ve set you free,
For the angels the sky’s the street and we
walk on blue feet.
You passed me by ten thousand times,
your nose turned high as you threw your dimes,
to think one day you’ll come knocking
on my door!
I can hide in the flowers and the birds that fly,
I live in your thoughts and I must stand by,
sometimes I count the drops
in a waterfall’s roar.
And I don’t get lonely...
we walk on blue feet,
the sky’s our street....
